Location

Skills
OpenSCAD, FDM 3D printing, bio-inspired design
As part of an open-ended design assignment, we were free to choose our own concept, and I was particularly intrigued by the idea of creating a bio-inspired design. Drawing inspiration from the Fullerene-60 molecule, I modeled a geometric structure in OpenSCAD that mimics the interconnected hexagons of the molecular shape.
I developed two alternative versions: Design A, which features 12 overlapping hexagons, and Design B, composed of 6 hexagons and 6 squares. After finalizing the designs, I 3D printed the structures using PLA filament and transformed one into a functional lampshade by incorporating a flexible LED strip.
